NetApp Basic Cluster Commands

1.     Security Levels

To switch between advance and admin privilege levels

>set – privilege advanced

>set – privilege admin

2.     Aggregates

>aggr show

>disk show – to list the disk

If unassigned disk found, assign the disk to node

>storage disk assign –all true –node cluster1-01

>disk show – to make sure all disk are assigned to node

>aggr create –aggregate aggr3 –diskcount 5 –raidtype raid_dp –node cluster1-01

>aggr show – to see aggr3 is created successfully


To add more disk to existing aggr3

>aggr add-disks –aggregate aggr3 –diskcount 2


To delete aggregate

>aggr offline –aggregate aggr3

>aggr delete –aggregate aggr3

>aggr show


To see the space on aggregrate

>aggr show-space –aggregate aggr0

>aggr show-status

3.     vServer Commands

To see list of vservers

>vserver show


To create a vserver

>vserver create –vserver vs2 –subtype default –rootvolume sv2root –aggregate aggr4 –rootvolume-security-style ntfs –language C.UTF-8 –snapshot-policy default


To list the newly created vserver

>vserver show


To stop vserver

>vserver stop –vserver vs2

>vserver show (to verify vs2 is stopped)


to start the paused vserver vs2

>vserver start –vserver vs2

To create a volume in with vol3 name

>volume create –vserver vs2 –volume vol3 –aggregate aggr4 –size 2GB –state online –type RW –policy default


To view the new vol3 is created

To view the status

>volume show


To bring vol3 back online

>volume online vol3


To see volume instance

>volume show –instance


To increase the volume size

>volume size –volume vol3 –new-size 4GB

8.     SnapShots


To how delete snapshots of mroot (node level)


Enter node level –

>node run local

>snap list vol0

>snap delete -a vol0

Turn off snapshot for vol0

>Snap sched vol0 0 0 0


In addition to add more space to vol0

Add disk to to aggrs {aggr0}
